How Does a Root Cause Therapy session work?

Root Cause Therapy is exciting in its unique approach to healing.

It enables you to tap into unprocessed emotions that are stored in your unconscious mind and body. These create limiting beliefs, triggers and unhelpful coping mechanisms, preventing you from living a life of ease.

What to Expect:

  1. The first part of your session involves finding out what’s important to you, and what you’d like to resolve.

    We will identify your main focus for the session ex: a work or relationship issue. This is where we can talk about what’s going on for you, how it’s impacting your life today and anything else you may be wanting to explore.


  2. Kinesiology (muscle testing) is used to check through core beliefs that have an impact on your wellbeing.

    Muscle testing overrides the conscious brain, or ‘thinking-part’ of the mind, as beliefs are held unconsciously and run in the background your life, impacting your decision-making, behaviours and thought processes. These are the scripts that cause the outcomes we don’t want.

“Some examples of common core beliefs are; I am alone, I am not good enough, I fear judgement, Life is hard.”

3. Once we can see what your limiting beliefs are we can begin the final part of the session, which is called timeline regression.

Timeline regression works to clear and transmute the limiting beliefs once the mind and body are in a safe and relaxed space. The steps are done through a guided framework that encompasses aspects of Gestault Therapy, somatic processing and timeline therapy.

What to expect:

You may not have any conscious memory of some events, since many of our beliefs are formed before the age of 7, but your unconscious mind has taken everything in throughout your life and stored it, along with the associated emotions.

4. Through careful guidance, you journey back in time to discover the origins of where the beliefs were formed.

You remain awake and conscious throughout the timeline regression, although it is best to have your eyes closed. Once your unconscious reveals the root cause of the issue, you will be able to allow the unprocessed emotions to reach completion, enabling them to finally leave your system. (This is something you did not have the tools to do when you were young so the energy of those emotions has stayed in your system, showing up again and again as stress & triggers in your daily life).

You may be wondering if you will have to re-live trauma. However, it is no more stressful than what you live with in your existing day-to-day life. The only difference is that this time we get to heal it. Safely. Fully.

5. Now that the emotions have been released, you can see the situation more clearly allowing you to gain your own valuable insights and learnings.

It is here you can experience some beautiful a-ha moments and self compassion as you begin to see yourself and others through a new lens. The learnings gained here are so powerful because they come from deep within you, and you may begin notice that old triggers don’t have the same charge anymore.

This is not hypnotherapy. In fact, the power of RCT is that it uncovers what is happening beneath the surface, for you to become aware of it consciously. This is an opportunity for you to identify how your core beliefs were formed, and how they continue to impact your everyday life, within a safe and comfortable framework. Once you heal a core belief, any other connecting beliefs associated with it will fall away, and often multiple beliefs are healed in one session.

This is an overview of what a root cause therapy session looks like, however I also use other practices to help you safely uncover the origins of your current issues that do not specifically use muscle testing or timeline therapy. For true and lasting healing I believe we need a safe space to explore the origins (or root cause) of our current situation, because that is where we created the thinking and feeling patterns that are causing so much of our distress and dis-ease, in our relationships and our daily lives.
